Life There After

Steve & I lived together for about, two
years before we started our family.
My first daughter, Megan was born and three more
additions to the family followed.
Another daughter and two son's, filled our lives.

I got involved playing Indoor-cricket, with
other mothers, stuck at home with wee ones.
We built our team to be one of the
best Ladies Indoor-cricket  team
of our grade. We continued for a
few years and, slowly team-members
dropped away because, it was getting too
expensive to continue.

I continued playing Indoor-cricket
when I started to work. This time
a different team of woman. I then,
got involved with inter-work cricket
competition. This was a major league
where departments played against each
other and, everyone was out to win!!
Our team, which had to be a mixed team
won the trophy 4 years
running and every year, all the other
departments were out to kick our butts.
The finals were always a big finale.
The big-wigs of our company who,
incidently, had their own team, would
come to watch the grand finals.
The cricket arena was in total chaos
due to the noise our spectators would
endure. The hype was totally, Tu Meke!!

I was also part of the dragon-boat
Co' team for 2 years & another 3 years
with the WCC dragon-boat team. The WCC
which my hubby was apart of, had one
awesome team. They had won the Regional
Councils Trophy and the Petite Section
the first time entering. We then took
the team to Auckland to challenge for
the Inter-City trophy. Our team won it along
with $1000.00. The hype was totally awesome!!
To-date, they still hold the Inter-City and
Regional Councils Trophies.

I became involved playing softball for a social
team as,pitcher and position 7, 8 or 9. We
won our grade and the following season, we
played Major B softball. We got second for
the season and, I moved on to play for the
Major Reserves team during 95'-96' and,
finally decided to hang-up my glove.

After 10 years working I semi-retired at the end of
1996 and had a long awaited rest from the work-force.

3 month later, I was looking for work.
I now work for the Intellectually
Handicapped Society and have been,
for a little over a year. A very challenging
and somewhat, stressful job, to be in but,
a great satisfaction when you have achieved
your daily goals.

Well, there you have, my little saga
of 38 years, in 3 quick-to-read, pages.
